Michel was born in Brussels from Belgian parents: her mother, Colette Crabbé, represented Belgium in 1976 Montreal Olympics Games in swimming.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/cr/colette-crabbe-1.html )〕
At the age of one year she moved to Oregon, where she obtained the Bachelor of Arts at University of Oregon in 2011.
